Thanks K.
I am looking for empathy in Spain. Their culture, although by no means perfect and intertwines with the EU, is much more caring, empathetic, respectful of elders and family, etc.
The big mistake I describe when people ask me is not the original version of the US constitution or the fundamental intentions, but the almost cult-like reverence for it, without any acknowledgment that something that was applicable 250 years ago needs true reform. Amendments as minor adjustments but any country that does not truly reform its foundational documents as times change will ultimately fall from its perch because the adherence to the old principles will doom any modern society.
I hope for America it will accept its decline with grace and without violence — although I am not holding much hope after what we all saw on 6th Jan 2021.
